Partnering for Impact: Community Collaboration Moves Morrow Discovery Center Closer to Opening

As part of my ongoing commitment to supporting rural communities through Opportunity Healthcare Consulting, I’ve continued to donate my time and expertise to the launch of the Morrow Discovery Center (MDC) — a new nonprofit children’s museum designed to foster learning, creativity, and connection through hands-on, play-based experiences.

We’re especially grateful for the generosity and collaboration of our local partners, which has helped us to make substantial progress this month. Umatilla Morrow Head Start contributed a significant donation of toys and child-sized furniture, while the Blue Mountain Early Learning Hub provided both funding and strategic support. Their grant helped us purchase essential items like roomscaping materials, childproofing supplies, and additional furnishings, while also lending valuable insight into the design and layout of our space.

It’s rewarding to see these partnerships come together — and to witness how deeply this region values its children and families. As a founding board member of MDC and rural health consultant, my focus has included nonprofit strategy, grant development, and startup operations. But moments like this — when the vision begins to take physical shape — are where the real impact becomes visible.

We’re now preparing the center for painting, furnishing, and exhibit installation, all on track for an August 2025 opening. It’s an exciting time, and I’m proud to be contributing to a project that will offer free admission for all families and serve as a hub of discovery, learning, and play.
